Description
The pi splitter was developed to connect multiple TV and Hifi devices to a single TV outlet. Most standard splitters available in stores have only two TV or two radio connectors, which can be cumbersome sometimes. If you connect multiple splitters in a row it looks ugly and produces a loss of signal quality.
The original idea was to hook up a TV, a radio and a cable modem. Unfortunately the pi splitter was a complete failure in this respect because the cable modem didn't work with it. TVs and radios are no problem, though.
This mod is easy to reproduce. You need a metal case, some coaxial jacks and wire. The input needs a female connector (connect to a TV outlet) or a male (radio outlet). The following counts for the outputs: Male connectors for TVs and female for radios. Of course this rule is violated sometimes (with so called homo cables) otherwise it wouldn't be a ghetto mod. |
 | The polished pi splitter. It's called Pi because the splitter resembles a Pi symbol. If you don't have a metal case use a cassis box or anything similar. |
 | A masterpiece of soldering! |
 | The assembly is simple. The shield of the coax jacks is soldered to the case, the inner connectors are soldered together with wire. If you like it more professional you may solder resistors in between but we left that out. |
