Description
The Murx-AMP 2000 is more of an anti ghetto mod! The Murx-AMP 2000 was designed to serve as a PC sound system because the old one was too ghetto.
Its power supply used too much power when idle and and caused a lot of heat so it had to be cooled with a fan and a modded temperature control! A device that was in one piece was more desirable than the old "!mURx-Sound-System" as well. |
For comparison purposes: the old "!mURx-Sound-System" (see below)
front view
rear view
the inside
The heart of the amplifier: Two LM3876 that were ordered as a free sample at National Semiconductor and delivered via UPS! (The heatsink had to be milled because it wasn't plain. (ghetto!))
Everything quite straight!
Of course the ground is the most important part and longer than phase and neutral.
The unwritten law of modding: There is no modding without ghetto!
One of just a few ghetto parts in this device: The power LED has been mounted with a manipulated self-adhesive cable tie mount!
Speaking of ghetto modding...there were some complications working the back cover.
Usually it doesn't look like this after milling.
The Legacy-AMP (the old !mURx-Sound-System) primarily consisted of a "40W audio amplifier" kit with integrated Siemens TDA amplifiers which of course didn't sound very well.
The labels on the front panel are very professional, too
A good wiring, just with green cables
