Description
Back in 1976 the "Telespiel" was probably one of the first home video games available in Germany. The game must have been the uber pwn0r game back then, today it is kind of antique. It is basically a clone of the classic "Pong" for two players. There is no single player mode except a training mode. An AI would have been too much effort in the 70s because they had to save money on all components. At least it still works after 27 years, I'd like to see that from modern video games.

The "Telespiel" is quite compact. On top there are the game mode switches, in the middle there's the speaker. The gamepads are attached with veeery long cables and can be taped to the case with velcro. The controls are done with a trim potentiometer. It's output voltage determines the bat's position. The left pad had a red reset switch, the right one had a server button to start the game. More buttons weren't needed...
All game options had to be made with hardware switches. On the left there is the on/off switch, then a game speed switch, a game mode switch in the middle. On the right there are switches for the ball's angle and the size of the bats.
The Telespiel also ran on batteries but it need six fat 1.5V cells.
After 27 years the Telespiel still functions. On this picture it is connected to a TV card for testing. There is only a HF output, no composite out.
Graphics and sound are really...w00t!
