The Mitac 486 in action
a side view of the case
the top of the case
The case has already been modded to make the Mitac AT compatible (it was a failure). Now, a few original parts won't fit anymore, which leads to more modding.
Harddisk in a 5.25" frame
This is the Mitac 486's CPU, an old Intel 486DX/33. It's so old it doesn't even need a heatsink.
Because the PSU has already been modded in several ways there was no power connector for the floppy so the cables were just soldered.
There are also a few original mods on the mainboard. Here, a tantal capacitor has been soldered over a chip to block voltage peaks.
Something was modded here as well.
Here you see the PC's PSU, yes, you SEE it! The cover has disappeared somehow because !mURx used his cutting-disc. Now it's just open. The most gross thing is that it is kept in place by a cable tie on the fan, which is fastened by only one screw!
A more detailed view of the fan fastener.
The Mitac has a ground, too! Only the outlet should be grounded now.
This is the external CMOS battery pack.
This is the harddisk. Since the 5.25" frame was shit it was fastened with strings.
The harddisk's power supply was also modded.
As mentioned before, the Mitac case was modded with the cutting-disc. That's why the ISA cards can't be fastened anymore. A piece of meccano helped.
